Examinations and training programs in emergency medicine that are available in India and other countries

Emergency medicine in India does exist, but only in small pockets mostly in South India. There are various training programs for those aspiring to get into the specialty of EM. The Medical Council of India (MCI) which is the governing body for all medical courses held in our country has not yet recognized EM as a specialty. Individuals as well as organizations are working to get the recognition. But this has not prevented institutes from starting their own EM training programs.

The best structured short EM training program currently in India is Fellowship in Emergency Medicine (FEM) which is offered by Christian Medical College (CMC) - Vellore and St. John's Medical College, Bangalore.

Fellowship in EM which is affliated to the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is offered by Apollo Hospitals at Hyderabad, Chennai and New Delhi.
