One Year Rural Posting Mandatory for PG Medical Students: Central Government
The Centre has taken a major step towards ensuring the availability of doctors in rural areas. It has made one-year combined rural posting mandatory for all doctors seeking a post-graduation in India. The new ruling is applicable to students from the next academic session onwards.

Rural India to get more docs
It has become obligatory for all MBBS pass-outs applying for post-graduation to do a combined rural posting for four months each in primary health centres, community health centres and district hospitals under the state government.
The rural posting has been made compulsory for the postgraduate medical aspirants only and not for the doctors wishing to enter into practice.
