Greetings from Society for Emergency Medicine, India (SEMI) !

I am very thankful to all the SEMI members for Electing me Unanimously as the President of our prestigious - Society for Emergency Medicine , India for the term Nov 2014 – Nov 2016 in the recently concluded AGM held at EMCON 2014, 8th November 2014

Our Nation is currently witnessing a major change in healthcare arena especially Emergency Medicine as I feel it's very important for every citizen of this country to receive the Emergency care at the Golden hour. The goals and objectives of the new SEMI board in next two years is therefore focused on the need of the hour and priority areas of national healthcare policy. The Population of 1.22 Billion people being served by very few Emergency Physicians!!! "Definitely not Enough" Let's make in India to meet the Country's need for quality health care at the doorstep of any Hospital – Emergency Department. Proud to be an Emergency Physician

The goals of our society are listed below

1. To promote Academic and scientific activities in Emergency Medicine through regional and international collaboration.

2. To encourage, support and help medical institutions to start post graduate programs in Emergency Medicine.

3. To collaborate with Medical Council of India and National Board of Examinations in advisory capacity to draw the roadmap of EM education in India .

4. To collaborate with regional and global societies ( Like AAEMI,ASEM, IFEM etc. )to adopt the best practices in core areas like EM education, Disaster Response, EMS , Trauma care etc.

5. To establish and promote the subspecialty training in the areas of Pediatric emergency medicine, Disaster Medicine, EMS and Ultrasound in emergency medicine.

6. To publish scientific papers, journal (National Journal of Emergency Medicine - NJEM), Monographs and textbooks aimed at upgrading the knowledge and skills of Emergency Medicine practitioners.

7. To promote high standards and chain of care concept in Emergency Medicine to be able to act as a safety net for the community.

8. To promote awareness among fellow doctors and public regarding emergency care and therefore promote and improve standards of Emergency Care in India .

9. To support and encourage Research through collaboration in the field of emergency medicine.

10. To promote the membership campaign aiming at establishing state chapters across the country.
