you have to qualify the plab exam to work there. but if you do, and if you do manage to find a job for yourself (which is next to impossible), you are eligible on an equal basis as any other MCEM UK graduate, for the post of specialist registrar.
Personally speaking, enter MCEM, f you wanna help establish the specialty in India, MCEM should not be a stepping stone to work abroad.

Recent change in policies from the UK immigration office have virtually annihilated any chances of new doctors trained overseas (non UK/non EEU), entering the healthcare system in UK. There however, can be exceptions...

If you are one of them, certainly PLAB is the starting point. With the implementation of MMC (Modernising Medical Careers) recommendations, you donot need to have higher qualifications to get into a specialty.

The general trend has been that most overseas doctors opt for the FY1 or FY2 (Foundation Years, which are equivalent to our House surgeon/Intern) jobs.

You then get into CT1 to CT3 (Core Training) jobs for three years. This is when you could do most of your MCEM exams. Of the three years in CT, only the third year is specialty specific training!!

You apply once again to compete for the ST (specialist Training) jobs, which, subject to satisfactory progress, after 2 to 3 years, would lead to FCEM and CCT(completion Certificate of Training).

This process, at best, has been extremely heart-breaking, nerve-wracking and mostly confusing to most...

However, you'd face this misery only after the 'visa babu' gives you the nod...
