MCEM

For eligibility for MCEM examination, go to the link below

CMC Vellore or any other hospital in India has nothing to do with MCEM examination. Only Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad is one of the four overseas examination sites for the MCEM exam conducted by the College of Emergency Medicine, UK (The other 3 sites are at Singapore, Hong Kong and South Africa). The EM residency at Apollo Hyderabad is recognized for the MCEM Part B and C exams.

However recognition of EM experience from other hospitals in India for the MCEM exams is dependent on the College of EM (UK) panel. And it is done on individual basis.

Critical Care and Emergency Medicine are two very different specialties despite overlap. You need to visit emergency depts and ICUs to know what's goes on in these areas.
The simplest breakup is shown in the page below

(NOTE: Make sure you visit ICUs which are managed by qualified intensivists and emergency departments which are managed by qualified emergency physicians)

Lastly neither emergency medicine nor critical care can be learnt from a distance. These distance courses in EM and critical care should be discouraged. Smile
