Dr. Syed Arshad Abbas (Diploma-Emergency Medicine) and Dr. Rajesh Jain (DNB-Anesthesia), both who were working as emergency physicians in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Apollo Hospitals New Delhi, were killed in a tragic accident on the night of May 25. They were transporting a patient via air ambulance from Patna to Delhi, when their aircraft crashed due to bad weather while approaching New Delhi. Cyril, a male nurse who was with them, also died.

This was a tremendous loss to the Indian EM community. Apollo Hospitals across the country conducted condolence meetings to pay tribute to the staff killed in the crash. Dr. Arshad had planned to do his residency in EM and was due to sit for his MCEM Part A exam on June 8.
